Last month I took a drive out to the Verde Valley, specifically to see and walk the
grounds of Tuzigoot.

If you’ve never heard of Tuzigoot it is one of the many dwellings built by the Singua people Between 1000 and 1400. They were hunter gatherers that farmed the land near the Verde River. The remnants of their dwellings are now a part of the National Park System. The view from the hilltop looking out over the Verde Valley is really beautiful.

I went when the park opened at 8:00AM and I was the only person there. It was very quiet and peaceful and I took my time walking around and taking photos. The upper room of the dwelling was not open to the public to allow for repairs to be made. That didn’t matter because I was able to hear the echo of these ancient people and I felt their presence in every step I took.
